The works of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya

Ātmabodhaḥ

Verse 42

In plain words

In the supreme Self there is no split into a knower, an act of knowing, and a thing known. Its nature is a single thing — awareness that is bliss — and so it shines entirely by itself.

Close to the Sanskrit

The division into knower, knowing, and known is not found in the supreme Self. Because its nature is one — consciousness and bliss — That shines by itself alone.
