The works of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya

Ātmabodhaḥ

Verse 50

जीवन्मुक्तस्तु तद्विद्वान्पूर्वोपाधिगुणांस्त्यजेत् ।सच्चिदानन्दरूपत्वात् भवेद्भ्रमरकीटवत् ॥ ४९ ॥

In plain words

The one who knows That is free while still alive. He lets go of the traits that belonged to his former upādhis — body, senses, mind, all the old conditions. Since his very nature is sat-cit-ānanda, being, awareness, bliss, he becomes that, the way the grub in the wasp's nest becomes the wasp.

Close to the Sanskrit

But the one liberated while living, knowing That, should abandon the qualities of his former limiting adjuncts; because of being of the nature of existence-consciousness-bliss, he becomes like the grub and the wasp.
