गायत्रीं गरुडध्वजां गगनगां गान्धर्वगानप्रियांगम्भीरां गजगामिनीं गिरिसुतां गन्धाक्षतालंकृताम् ।गङ्गागौतमगर्गसंनुतपदां गां गौतमीं गोमतींश्रीशैलस्थलवासिनीं भगवतीं श्रीमातरं भावये ॥ ९ ॥

She is the Gāyatrī. Garuḍa flies on her banner; she travels the open sky; the songs of the gandharvas delight her. Deep past sounding, she walks with an elephant's slow majesty — daughter of the mountain, decked in sandal paste and unbroken rice. Gaṅgā praises her feet, and Gautama, and Garga. She is the earth. She is the Gautamī, she is the Gomatī. She lives on the ground of Śrīśaila. The Blessed One, the radiant Mother — I hold her in my mind.
