When Prana chanted the Udgitha, the demons rushed upon him to pierce him with evil, but they shattered against him just as a fragile clay lump shatters against a solid rock. Scattered in all directions, the demons perished while the gods triumphed.

Prana sang out. The demons knew that through this chanter they would surpass them. Rushing upon him, they pierced him with evil. Just as a lump of clay striking a solid rock would shatter into pieces, so indeed were those demons shattered, scattered in all directions, and destroyed. The gods became victorious, and the demons were defeated.
