The works of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya

Bṛhadāraṇyakopaniṣadbhāṣyam

Verse 198

रेतस इति मा वोचत जीवतस्तत्प्रजा-यते ।धानारुह इव वै वृक्षोऽञ्जसा प्रेत्यसंभवः ॥ ५ ॥

In plain words

Don't say it comes from semen -- semen itself only comes from someone already alive. Think instead of a seed sprouting into a plant: what arises after death comes just as directly as that.

Close to the Sanskrit

Do not say 'from semen' -- for that is produced only from a living being. Rather, like a sprout arising from a seed-grain, indeed, the coming-into-being after death is direct.
