मूर्ध्नो वान्येभ्यो वा शरीरदेशेभ्यस्तमु-त्क्रामन्तं प्राणोऽनूत्क्रामति प्राणमनूत्क्रा-मन्तं सर्वे प्राणा अनूत्क्रामन्ति सवि-ज्ञानो भवति सविज्ञानमेवान्ववक्रामति ।तं विद्याकर्मणी समन्वारभेते पूर्वप्रज्ञा च ॥

Whether it leaves through the crown of the head or through some other part of the body, the breath follows right behind it as it goes; and as the breath goes, every other faculty follows the breath out in turn. What is left, carrying itself onward, is consciousness alone. And what takes hold of it now is simply this: the knowledge it gained, the actions it performed, and the awareness it carried in from before.

Whether from the crown of the head or from other regions of the body, as it departs, the vital breath departs after it; as the vital breath departs after it, all the vital faculties depart after it; it becomes one with consciousness, and it proceeds, being with consciousness alone. Knowledge and action take hold of it, and also prior awareness.
