तस्या उपस्थानं गायत्र्यस्येकपदी द्विपदी त्रिपदी चतुष्पद्यपदसि न हि पद्यसे ।नमस्ते तुरीयाय दर्शताय पदाय परोरजसेऽसावदो मा प्रापदिति यं द्विष्यादसावस्मै कामो मा समृद्धीति वा न हैवास्मै स कामः समृध्यते यस्मा एवमुपतिष्ठतेऽहमदः प्रापमिति वा ॥ ७ ॥
In plain words
Here is how she is worshipped: 'Gāyatrī, you have one foot, two feet, three feet, four feet — and yet no feet at all, because no one ever fully reaches you. Homage to your fourth foot, the visible one, the one beyond the dust!' But use this prayer to wish harm on someone you hate — 'may he never get what he wants' — or to grab something for yourself — 'let me have that' — and it simply will not work. Worship offered with a grudge or a grasping hand bears no fruit at all.

Her worship: 'O Gāyatrī, you are one-footed, two-footed, three-footed, four-footed — yet you are footless, for you are never [fully] attained. Homage to you, the fourth, visible foot, beyond the dust!' [If, reciting this,] regarding whomever one should hate, [one wishes] 'may that one not attain that,' or 'may this desire not succeed for him' — that desire, indeed, does not succeed for the one for whom [the mantra] is worshipped with such intent; nor [does it succeed] for one who says 'may I attain that' [with self-interest].
