स होवाच गार्ग्यो य एवायं यन्तं प-श्चाच्छब्दोऽनूदेत्येतमेवाहं ब्रह्मोपास इतिस होवाचाजातशत्रुर्मा मैतस्मिन्संवदि-ष्ठा असुरिति वा अहमेतमुपास इतिस य एतमेवमुपास्ते सर्वं हैवास्मिँल्लोक आयुरेति नैनं पुरा कालात्प्राणो ज- हाति ॥ १० ॥
In plain words
Gārgya said, "The sound that follows behind a person as he walks—that is the Brahman I worship." Ajātaśatru answered, "Do not speak to me of him. I worship him as Asu, the life-breath." Whoever meditates on him thus lives out his full span of life in this world, and breath does not desert him before his time.

He said, Gargya: 'This sound that follows behind one who is walking, him indeed I worship as Brahman.' He said to him, Ajatashatru: 'Do not converse with me about this. As Asu, indeed, I worship this.' He who worships him thus attains the full lifespan in this world; prana does not abandon him before the time.
