तमेताः सप्तक्षितय उपतिष्ठन्ते तद्याइमा अक्षन्लोहिन्यो राजयस्ताभिरेनंरुद्रोऽन्वायत्तोऽथ या अक्षन्नापस्ताभिःपर्जन्यो या कनीनका तयादित्यो यत्कृ-ष्णं तेनाग्निर्यच्छुक्लं तेनेन्द्रोऽधरयैनं वर्त-न्या पृथिव्यन्वायत्ता द्यौरुत्तरया नास्या-न्नं क्षीयते य एवं वेद ॥ २ ॥

Seven regions of the world stand in attendance on him. The red veins in the eye — that is Rudra, holding fast to him there. The water in the eye — that is Parjanya, the rain. The pupil — that is Āditya, the sun. Whatever is black in the eye is Agni; whatever is white is Indra. The lower rim of the eyelid binds him to the earth, the upper rim to the sky. And whoever knows this never runs short of food.

Him these seven regions attend. As to that: whatever red streaks are in the eye — by these, Rudra is attached to him. Then, whatever water is in the eye — by that, Parjanya. Whatever is the pupil — by that, Āditya. Whatever is black — by that, Agni. Whatever is white — by that, Indra. By the lower rim, the earth is attached to him; by the upper, heaven. His food does not waste away — he who knows thus.
