सा होवाच मैत्रेयी ।एवमुक्ता प्रत्युवाच मैत्रेयी-यद्येवं येनाहं नामृता स्याम्, किमहं तेन वित्तेन कुर्याम् ?यदेव भगवान् केवलम् अमृतत्वसाधनं वेद, तदेव अमृतत्व-साधनं मे मह्यं ब्रूहि ॥

So Maitreyī answered: "If that's so, then what good is wealth to me, if it won't make me immortal? Just tell me the one thing you know — the way to immortality itself."

She, Maitreyī, said [this]: thus addressed, Maitreyī replied — "If it is so, then what should I do with that wealth by which I would not become immortal? Tell to me exactly that means to immortality which you, venerable one, alone know."
