पुनः सा होवाच ; नमस्तेऽस्त्वित्यादिप्रश्नस्य दुर्वचत्वप्रदर्शनार्थम् ; यः मे मम एतं प्रश्नं व्यवोचः विशेषेणापाकृतवानसि ; एतस्य दुर्वचत्वे कारणम्- सूत्रमेव तावदगम्यम् इतरैर्दुर्वाच्यम् ; किमुत तत् , यस्मिन्नोतं च प्रोतं चेति ; अतो नमोऽस्तु ते तुभ्यम् ;, अपरस्मै द्वितीयाय प्रश्नाय धारयस्व दृढीकुरु आत्मानमित्यर्थः ।पृच्छ गार्गीति इतर आह ॥

She spoke again, and this line exists only to show how hard her question really was. 'You have taken this question of mine apart completely,' she said. Again she said this — in order to show the difficulty of stating the question beginning 'homage to you': you, who resolved this question of mine, have specifically dispelled it. The reason for its difficulty is this: the thread itself is unfathomable, hard to be spoken of even by others; how much more so that in which it is woven crosswise and lengthwise! Therefore homage to you. Make yourself ready for the second question — meaning, steady yourself. 'Ask, Gārgī,' the other one said.
