Bhashya
काम एव यस्यायतनम् ।स्त्रीव्यतिकराभिलाषः कामःकामशरीर इत्यर्थः ।हृदयं लोकः, हृदयेन बुद्ध्या पश्यति ।य एवायं काममयः पुरुषः अध्यात्ममपि काममय एव,तस्य का देवतेति-स्त्रिय इति होवाच ; स्त्रीतो हि कामस्यदीप्तिर्जायते ॥
In plain words
Desire is his home ground. This person made of desire lives in the heart — his whole world is the heart, and he sees through it, through the mind that thinks with longing. Turned inward, he is desire through and through, nothing else. Ask him: what god do you answer to? Women, he says. Because it is a woman who sets desire alight.
Close to the Sanskrit
'Desire alone is his abode' — [gloss:] desire is the longing for union with a woman, meaning the desire-body. Heart is his world; he sees by the heart, i.e. by the intellect. This very person who is made of desire is, with reference to the self also, made of desire indeed. Of him, what is the deity? — 'Women', he said; for it is from a woman that the blaze of desire is born.
