Bhashya
रूपाण्येव यस्यायतनम् ।रूपाणि शुक्लकृष्णादीनि ।य एवासावादित्ये पुरुषः- सर्वेषां हि रूपाणां विशिष्टं कार्यमादित्ये पुरुषः, तस्य का देवतेति- सत्यमिति होवाच ; सत्यमिति चक्षुरुच्यते; चक्षुषो हि अध्यात्मत आदित्यस्याधिदैवतस्य निष्पत्तिः ॥
In plain words
Forms alone are his home — white, black, and every shade after that. And this person standing in the sun is what all of those forms add up to, their finest piece of work. Ask his god, and the answer is truth. But look closer: 'truth' here just means the eye. Because it is the eye in you that gives rise to the sun out there, the god who presides over sight.
Close to the Sanskrit
'Forms alone are his abode' — forms means white, black, and so on. 'That very person who is yonder in the sun' — for the sun-person is the distinguished effect of all forms. Of him, what is the deity? — 'Truth', he said; 'truth' here means the eye; for it is from the eye, with reference to the individual self, that the arising of the sun, the presiding deity, comes about.
