जानश्रुतिर्ह पौत्रायणः श्रद्धादेयो बहुदायी बहुपाक्य आस स ह सर्वत आवसथान्मापयांचक्रे सर्वत एव मेऽन्नमत्स्यन्तीति ॥ १ ॥

In plain words

Jānaśruti Pautrāyaṇa was a king known for giving gifts with deep faith, for his immense generosity, and for keeping vast kitchens where much food was constantly prepared. Indeed, he had rest-houses built in every direction, intending, 'Let people everywhere eat my food in these places.'
