Verse 230

श्रोत्रं होच्चक्राम तत्संवत्सरं प्रोष्यपर्येत्योवाच कथमशकतर्ते मज्जीवितुमितियथा बधिरा अशृण्वन्तः प्राणन्तः प्राणेनवदन्तो वाचा पश्यन्तश्चक्षुषा ध्यायन्तोमनसैवामिति प्रविवेश ह श्रोत्रम् ॥ १० ॥

In plain words

Hearing departed. Having stayed away for a full year, it returned and asked, 'How were you able to live without me?' Just like the deaf who do not hear, yet breathe through breath, speak through speech, see through sight, and think through mind—hearing re-entered.

Hearing indeed departed. Having stayed away for a year, it returned and said: 'How were you able to live without me?' Just as the deaf, not hearing, breathing by breath, speaking by speech, seeing by sight, meditating by mind indeed thus, hearing entered indeed.
