Then he said to Uddālaka, the son of Aruṇa: 'Gautama, which Self do you meditate upon?' 'The earth itself, revered sir, O king,' he replied. 'This truly is the foundational Self, Vaiśvānara, whom you worship; and because of this, you are firmly established with children and cattle.'
