तौ ह द्वात्रिंशतं वर्षाणि ब्रह्मचर्य-मूषतुस्तौ ह प्रजापतिरुवाच किमिच्छ-न्ताववास्तमिति तौ होचतुर्य आत्माप-हतपाप्मा विजरो विमृत्युर्विशोको वि-जिघत्सोऽपिपासः सत्यकामः सत्यसंक-ल्पः सोऽन्वेष्टव्यः स विजिज्ञासितव्यःस सर्वांश्च लोकानाप्नोति सर्वांश्च का-मान्यस्तमात्मानमनुविद्य विजानातीतिभगवतो वचो वेदयन्ते तमिच्छन्ताव-वास्तमिति ॥
In plain words
The two of them lived as celibate students for thirty-two years. Prajāpati asked them: 'With what desire have you lived here?' They replied: 'We heard the venerable one's teaching: "The Self who is free from all evil, ageless, deathless, sorrowless, free from hunger and thirst, whose desires and resolves are true—that Self must be sought and thoroughly understood. He who finds and realizes that Self attains all worlds and all desires." Desiring to know that very Self, we have lived here.

Those two indeed lived thirty-two years the disciplined life of a student. Prajāpati spoke to them: 'Desiring what did you dwell here?' Those two said: 'The Self who is free from sin, free from old age, free from death, free from sorrow, free from hunger, free from thirst, whose desires are true, and whose resolve is true—he is to be sought, he is to be inquired into. He obtains all worlds and all desires who having known after discovers that Self.'—knowing this speech of the venerable one, desiring that very Self, we have dwelt here.
