स समित्पाणिः पुनरेयाय तं हप्रजापतिरुवाच मघवन्द्यच्छान्तहृदयःप्राव्राजीः सार्धं विरोचनेन किमिच्छन्पुन-रागम इति स होवाच यथैव खल्वयंभगवोऽस्मिञ्छरीरे साध्वलंकृते साध्वलं-कृतो भवति सुवसने सुवसनः परिष्कृतेपरिष्कृत एवमेवायमस्मिन्नन्धेऽन्धो भव-ति स्रामे स्रामः परिवृक्णे परिवृक्णोऽस्यै-व शरीरस्य नाशमन्वेष नश्यति नाहमत्रभोग्यं पश्यामीति ॥ २ ॥

He approached the teacher again, carrying fuel-sticks in his hand. Prajāpati said to him: 'Maghavan, since you departed with a peaceful heart alongside Virocana, with what desire have you returned?' Indra replied: 'Just as, O Venerable One, when this body is well-adorned, the reflection is well-adorned; when clothed, it is clothed; when groomed, it is groomed—so too, when this body is blind, the reflection is blind; when diseased, it is diseased; when maimed, it is maimed. When the body is destroyed, the reflection perishes right along with it. I see no lasting value in this whatsoever.'

He, with fuel-sticks in hand, approached again. Prajāpati said to him: 'Maghavan, since you went away with a peaceful heart together with Virocana, desiring what have you come back?' He spoke: 'Just as indeed, O venerable one, when this body is well-adorned, the reflection is well-adorned; when well-clothed, well-clothed; when well-prepared, well-prepared; so likewise when this body is blind, the reflection is blind; when diseased, diseased; when maimed, maimed. Following upon the destruction of this very body, it perishes. I do not see any enjoyable fruit in this.'
