तद्धैतद्ब्रह्मा प्रजापतय उवाच प्रजाप-तिर्मनवे मनुः प्रजाभ्य आचार्यकुलाद्वेद्-मधीत्य यथाविधानं गुरोः कर्मातिशेषे-णाभिसमावृत्य कुटुम्बे शुचौ देशे स्वा-ध्याय मधीयानो धार्मिकान्विदधदात्मनिसर्वेन्द्रियाणि संप्रतिष्ठाप्याहिँसन्सर्व-भूतान्यन्यत्र तीर्थेभ्यः स खल्वेवं वर्तय-न्यावदायुषं ब्रह्मलोकमभिसंपद्यते न चपुनरावर्तते न च पुनरावर्तते ॥ १ ॥
In plain words
Brahma imparted this knowledge to Prajapati, Prajapati to Manu, and Manu to mankind. After studying the Veda in the teacher's home according to rule, fulfilling devotional service, and returning to settle as a householder in a pure place, one should study the sacred word, guide one's family in righteousness, restrain all senses within, and practice non-injury toward all beings outside of sanctioned duties. Living thus throughout his life, such a person attains the realm of Brahman and never returns to rebirth.

This indeed Brahma spoke to Prajapati, Prajapati to Manu, Manu to subjects. Having studied the Veda from the teacher's household in the prescribed manner, having fulfilled service to the guru, having returned, settled in family life in a pure place, studying sacred texts, guiding offspring in righteousness, withdrawing all senses into the self, causing no injury to any living being except at sacred places—he indeed conducting himself thus throughout his life attains the world of Brahma and does not return again, does not return again.
