अमृतत्व देवेभ्य आगायानि साधयानि, स्वधा पितृभ्य आगायानि, आशा मनुष्येभ्य, आशा प्रार्थना प्रार्थितमि- त्येतत्, तृणोदक पशुभ्य, स्वर्ग लोक यजमानाय, अन्नम् आत्मने मह्यम् आगायानि, इत्येतानि मनसा चिन्तयन् ध्यायन् अप्रमत्त स्वरोष्मव्यञ्जनादिभ्य स्तुवीत ॥
In plain words
'May I chant and secure immortality for the gods; may I chant the svadhā offering for the ancestors; may I chant fulfillment of hopes for humans'—'hope' meaning prayer or the thing prayed for—'fodder and water for cattle, the heavenly world for the sacrificer, and food for myself, for me.' Reflecting upon these mentally, contemplating them with vigilance, and paying careful heed to the phonetics of vowels, sibilants, and consonants, one should perform the chant.

'May I chant, may I accomplish immortality for the gods; may I chant svadhā for the ancestors; hope for humans'—hope is prayer, that which is prayed for—'grass and water for cattle, the heavenly world for the sacrificer, food for myself, for me may I chant.' Reflecting and meditating on these mentally, unnegligent, paying attention to vowels, sibilants, consonants, and the rest, one should praise.
