ब्रह्मविदिव वै सोम्य भासि ।प्रसन्नेन्द्रियः प्रहसितवदनश्च निश्चिन्तः कृतार्थो ब्रह्मविद्भवति ।अत आह आचार्यो ब्रह्मविदिव भासीति ; को न्विति वितर्कयन्नुवाच—कस्त्वामनुशशासेति ।स च आह सत्यकामः अन्ये मनुष्येभ्यः ।देवता मामनुशिष्टवत्यः ।कोऽन्यो भगवच्छिष्यं मां मनुष्यः सन् अनुशासितुमुत्सहेतेत्यभिप्रायः ।अतोऽन्ये मनुष्येभ्य
In plain words
Gentle one, you shine like one who has known Brahman. With serene senses, a smiling face, and a heart free from all anxiety, you look like one whose every purpose is fulfilled. Seeing this, the teacher said, 'You shine like a knower of Brahman.' Wondering who could have brought about this change, he asked, 'Who has instructed you?' Satyakāma replied, 'Not human beings; deities have instructed me.' For who else, being a mere mortal man, would dare to teach one who is already a pupil of such a teacher?
Close to the Sanskrit
You shine like a knower of Brahman, indeed, gentle one. With serene senses, a smiling face, and free from anxiety, having attained his purpose, a knower of Brahman he becomes. Hence the teacher said, 'You shine like a knower of Brahman'; wondering 'who, indeed?' he asked, 'who has instructed you?' And he, Satyakāma, said: 'Other than human beings, deities have instructed me.' The meaning is: who other than a human being, being a man, would dare to instruct me, who am the disciple of a venerable teacher? Therefore, they are other than human beings.
