In plain words
In this celestial fire, whose characteristics have been described, the cosmic deities—who are the vital energies of the sacrificer acting on the divine plane—offer 'faith'. This faith is nothing other than the subtle, invisible waters that form the essence of the Agnihotra oblations, saturated with the inner attitude of devotion. We know this because the Upanishad asks how 'the waters in the fifth oblation come to be called man,' showing that these waters are the very substance offered; another text confirms that 'the waters are indeed faith.' When the deities offer this watery faith, it transforms into King Soma, the luminous lunar substance. This is just like the nectar of the Vedas, gathered by the bee-like verses, producing the brilliant red glow of the sun. In the same way, the subtle waters of the oblation ascend to the heavens and take shape as the lunar reward of the sacrifice. The sacrificers themselves, filled with the spirit of their offering and drawn upward by the force of their ritual action, ascend to the heavens and become one with this lunar light. Yet, the primary purpose of this teaching of the five fires is to guide our meditation on the transformation of the offering itself, not to detail the journey of the souls. The journey of those who merely perform rituals without meditation will be described later through the path of smoke, while the path of those who meditate will lead them along the northern way of light.

In that, in this fire of described characteristics, the gods—who are the vital breaths of the sacrificer in the form of fire and other deities on the cosmic plane—offer faith, which consists of the subtle waters in the state of transformation of the Agnihotra oblations, and which, being saturated with faith, are called 'faith'. This is because in the question regarding the waters becoming of human speech in the fifth oblation, they are heard of as the material to be offered; and it is also known from another text that 'waters indeed are faith, they proceed having brought forward faith'. They offer that faith which is of the nature of water; from the transformation of that oblation, King Soma arises—just as it was said that the juices of the flowers of the Rigveda etc., brought by the bees of the Rig verses etc., generate in the sun the effect of glory etc. characterized by the red color etc.—likewise, these subtle waters called 'faith', inhering in the Agnihotra oblations, having entered the heavenly world, produce the lunar effect which is the fruit of the two Agnihotra oblations. And the sacrificers, the performers of those rituals, consisting of oblations, saturated with the contemplation of the oblations, drawn by the action in the form of the oblation, and co-existing with faith, having entered the heavenly world, become Soma. For that purpose indeed was the Agnihotra offered by them. But here, the transformation of the oblation alone through the sequence of connection with the five fires is intended to be taught primarily for the sake of meditation, not the transit of the sacrificers. The scripture will describe that transit later on through the path of smoke etc. for the non-knowers, and the northern path attained through meditation for the knowers.
