पुरुषो वाव गौतमाग्निः ।तस्य वागेव समित्, वाचा हि मुखेन समिध्यते पुरुषो न मूकः ।प्राणो धूमः, धूम इव मुखान्निर्गमनात् ।जिह्वार्चिः, लोहितत्वात् ।चक्षुरङ्गाराः, भास आश्रयत्वात् ।श्रोत्रं विस्फुलिङ्गाः, विप्रकीर्णत्वसाम्यात् ॥
In plain words
The human person indeed is this fire. Speech is its fuel, for it is through speech and the mouth that a person—not being mute—is kindled. Breath is its smoke, because it issues from the mouth like smoke. The tongue is its flame, because of its red color. The eyes are its embers, because they are the seat of light. The ears are its sparks, because of their scattered nature.
