Bhashya
इत्युक्ताः ते ह ऊचुः— येन ह एव अर्थेन प्रयोजनेन यं प्रति चरेत् गच्छेत् पुरुषः, तं ह एवार्थं वदेत् ।इदमेव प्रयोजनमागमनस्येत्ययं न्यायः सताम् ।वयं च वैश्वानरज्ञानार्थिनः ।आत्मानमेवेमं वैश्वानरं संप्रत्यध्येषि सम्यग्जानासि ।अतस्तमेव नः अस्मभ्यं ब्रूहि ॥
In plain words
Thus addressed, they replied: 'A person approaches a teacher for a definite purpose; that is the proper way of the wise. We have come seeking the knowledge of Vaiśvānara. You know this very Vaiśvānara intimately right now. Therefore, teach him to us.'
Close to the Sanskrit
Thus addressed, they indeed spoke: Whatever purpose and goal for which a person should go, he should speak precisely that purpose. This indeed is the rule of good people. And we are seekers of the knowledge of Vaiśvānara. You know thoroughly this very Vaiśvānara Self now. Therefore, tell that very thing to us.
