इत्युक्तः तान ह उवाच ।प्रातः वः युष्मभ्यं प्रतिवक्तास्मि प्रतिवाक्यं दातास्मीत्युक्ताः ते ह राज्ञोऽभिप्रायज्ञाः समित्पाणयः समिद्भारहस्ताः अपरेद्युः पूर्वाह्णे राजानं प्रतिचक्रमिरे गतवन्तः ।यत एवं महाशालाः महाश्रोत्रियाः ब्राह्मणाः सन्तः महाशालत्वाद्यभिमानं हित्वा समिद्भारहस्ताः जातितो हीनं राजानं विद्यार्थिनः विनयेनोपजग्मुः ।तथा अन्यैर्विद्योपादित्सुभिर्भवितव्यम् ।तेभ्यश्च अदाद्विद्याम् अनुपनीयैव उपनयनमकृत्वैव तान् ।यथा योग्येभ्यो विद्यामदात्, तथा अन्येनापि विद्या दातव्येति आख्यायिकार्थः ।एतद्वैश्वानरविज्ञानमुवाचेति वक्ष्यमाणेन संबन्धः ॥
In plain words
When spoken to thus, the king told them, 'Tomorrow I will give you your answer.' Hearing this, those proud scholars who understood his intent laid aside all pride in their great households and learning. Carrying bundles of sacrificial fuel in their hands, they approached the king in the morning—though he was lower in social birth—seeking wisdom with utter humility. All true seekers must approach knowledge in this very spirit. Without even performing formal initiation, he gave them the teaching. Just as he bestowed wisdom upon the worthy, so should wisdom be shared by others as well. This is the inner meaning of the narrative, which connects directly to the teaching of Vaiśvānara that follows.

Thus addressed, he spoke to them: 'Tomorrow I shall give you the reply.' Having been thus addressed, those knowers of the king's intent, with fuel in their hands, approached the king in the forenoon on the next day. Since they, being great householders and great Vedic scholars, laid aside their pride of being great householders and with fuel in their hands approached a king inferior by birth, as seekers of knowledge with humility—thus should other seekers of knowledge also be. And he gave knowledge to them without even performing initiation. Just as he gave knowledge to eligible persons, so knowledge should be given by others too—this is the import of the story. This connects with the upcoming statement that he spoke this science of Vaiśvānara.
