Bhashya
अन्नमयं हि सोम्य मनः आपोमयः प्राणः तेजोमयी वाक् इति युक्तमेव मयोक्तमित्यभिप्रायः ।अतः अन्नेजसोस्त्वेतत्सर्वमेवम् ।मनस्त्वन्नमयमित्यत्र नैकान्तेन मम निश्चयो जातः ।अतः भूय एव मा भगवान् मनसोऽन्नमयत्वं दृष्टान्तेन विज्ञापयत्विति ।तथा सोम्येति ह उवाच पिता ॥
In plain words
Gentle one, my intent was simply this: the mind is formed of food, the breath of water, and speech of heat. Everything regarding those elements follows this pattern. Yet my mind has not reached absolute certainty regarding the teaching that the mind itself is nourished and made of food. Therefore, revered father, make me understand this clearly through an example once again. And the father replied, 'So be it, gentle one.'
Close to the Sanskrit
Food-consisting indeed, O gentle one, is the mind, water-consisting is the breath, fire-consisting is speech: thus what was said by me was indeed the intent. Hence regarding food and fire this entire [doctrine is] thus. But that the mind consists of food—here complete certainty has not arisen in me. Therefore, may the revered one make me understand again the mind's consisting of food through an example. Thus [he spoke]. And so, O gentle one, the father spoke.
