पूर्ववदेवमेवेत्युक्त्वा आह--यो मया उक्तः त्रिभिः प-र्यायैः तमेवैतं नो एवान्यत्रैतस्मादात्मनः अन्यं कंचन, किंतर्हि, एतमेव व्याख्यास्यामि ।स्वल्पस्तु दोषस्तवावशिष्टः,तत्क्षपणाय वस अपराणि अन्यानि पञ्च वर्षाणि- इत्युक्तःसः तथा चकार ।तस्मै मृदितकषायादिदोषाय स्थानत्रयदो-षसंबन्धरहितमात्मनः स्वरूपम् अपहतपाप्मत्वादिलक्षणं मघ-वते तस्मै ह उवाच ।तान्येकशतं वर्षाणि संपेदुः संपन्नानिबभूवुः ।यदाहुर्लोके शिष्टाः-- एकशतं ह वै वर्षाणिमघवान्प्रजापतौ ब्रह्मचर्यमुवास इति ।तदेतद्द्वात्रिंशतमित्या-दिना दर्शितमित्याख्यायिकातः अपसृत्य श्रुत्या उच्यते ।एवं किल तदिन्द्रत्वादपि गुरुतरम् इन्द्रेणापि महता यत्नेनएकोत्तरवर्षशतकृतायासेन प्राप्तमात्मज्ञानम् ।अतो नातःपरं पुरुषार्थान्तरमस्तीत्यात्मज्ञानं स्तौति ॥

In plain words

Saying 'As before,' the commentator speaks: 'That very Self which I explained in three rounds, and nothing else—that alone I will now expound to you. A slight trace of impurity still remains in you. To destroy it, live here for five more years.' Thus instructed, Indra did so. To him—whose defilements were cleansed, who was free from the flaws of the three states of consciousness, and who was fit for the pure nature of the Self, devoid of evil—he declared the truth. Those years reached one hundred and one. As people in the world say: 'Maghavan lived under Prajapati for one hundred and one years in student discipline.' This has been shown by the text beginning with 'thirty-two.' Stepping outside the narrative, the Upanishad itself now declares: Thus indeed, knowledge of the Self was attained by Indra himself through immense effort over one hundred and one years, an achievement grander than even the status of Indra. Therefore, there is no higher human goal than this; hence the scripture praises knowledge of the Self.

Saying thus 'Just as before,' he says: 'Whom I spoke of through three rounds, that very this Self and not another any whatsoever, what then, this very one I will explain. However, a very small defect remains of yours; for the destruction of that, dwell for other five years.' Thus addressed, he did so. To him whose impurities were rubbed away, free from connection with the defects of the three states, the true nature of the Self characterized by sinlessness and the like, to that Maghavān he truly spoke...
