In plain words
In the same manner he addressed the udgātṛ and the rest; the remaining narrative is identical. The priests led by the prastotṛ stopped their ritual duties entirely, holding back out of fear that their heads would shatter, and sat down silently without performing any further action.
Close to the Sanskrit
In this very way he spoke to the udgātṛ and pratihartṛ and so forth; the rest is similar. They, the prastotṛ and others, having desisted and withdrawn from their actions out of fear of head-falling, sat down silently, refraining from doing anything else, because of the risk.
