न वर्णा न वर्णाश्रमाचारधर्मान मे धारणाध्यानयोगादयोऽपि ।अनात्माश्रयाहंममाध्यासहानात्तदेकोऽवशिष्टः शिवः केवलोऽहम् ॥ २ ॥

Caste is not what I am, nor the codes of conduct that come with caste and stage of life. Concentration, meditation, yoga and the rest — those are not mine either. The 'I' and the 'mine' were laid over what is not the Self; when that superimposition drops away, one thing is left standing: Śiva, alone. That is what I am.
