In plain words
No mother, no father, no gods, no worlds, no Vedas, no sacrifices, no sacred river — this is what the knowers say of deep sleep, where every one of these is struck out and nothing at all is left standing. So the one thing left over is Śiva, alone, and I am that.
Close to the Sanskrit
No mother nor father, no gods, no worlds, no Vedas, no sacrifices, no place of pilgrimage — thus they declare; because in deep sleep, all being negated, it is of the nature of utter void. Therefore the one that remains — Śiva, alone — am I.
