In plain words

O holy Gaṅgā, dwelling on your bank and taking only water, freed from thirst for the things of the senses, I worship Kṛṣṇa. You who wash away every stain, whose waters are a stairway toward heaven, whose waves are ever dancing—O Goddess Gaṅgā, be gracious to me.

Close to the Sanskrit

O blessed one, on your bank, living on water alone, freed from thirst for sense-objects, I worship Kṛṣṇa. O breaker of every impurity, joined to the stairway to heaven, O you of exceedingly fluid waves, Goddess Gaṅgā, be gracious.
