Govindāṣṭakam

Verse 1

In plain words

Truth. Knowledge. No end to him. Always here — not the sky, and the sky beyond every sky. The one wobbling on hands and knees across the cowpen yard, who never strains at anything, and who carries all the straining there is. Māyā fashions his countless shapes; he has no shape, and every world is his shape. Lord of the earth and of Lakṣmī, with no lord above him — bow to Govinda, bliss itself.

Close to the Sanskrit

Truth, knowledge, endless; eternal; not space, and the supreme space; eager in his crawling across the courtyard of the cow-pen; effortless, and of supreme effort; whose manifold forms are fashioned by māyā, formless, and having the worlds as his form; lord of the earth and of Lakṣmī, and himself without a lord — bow to Govinda, the supreme bliss.
