In plain words
The mind, the eyes, all of them — none has any awareness of its own. They function only by leaning on one unwavering awareness, awareness that belongs to it the way heat belongs to fire. That one, whose very nature is unbroken awareness — that is what I am. That is the ātman.
Close to the Sanskrit
Whom — whose very nature is eternal knowing, as heat is the nature of fire — the mind, the eye and the rest, which are themselves of the nature of non-knowing, having resorted to, the unwavering, the one, they carry on their activity: that one, whose nature is eternal awareness, am I, the Self.
