In plain words
Take away the mirror and the reflected face is gone — and the face is still there, one, with nothing imagined about it. Take away the intellect and what is left throws no reflection at all: that is what I am, the Ātman, awareness itself, always.
Close to the Sanskrit
Just as, in the absence of the mirror, upon the cessation of the reflection, the face exists, free of imagination, one; so too, when the intellect is disjoined, that which is without reflection — that is I, the Self, whose very nature is eternal awareness.
