Jagannāthāṣṭakam

Verse 8

In plain words

Take this saṃsāra off me, and take it fast — there is nothing in it, Lord of the gods. Take the whole endless spread of my sins, Lord of the Yādavas. Ah, you who belong to the destitute and the forlorn, you who never move — let what you have given me stand, and guard me without a break. May Jagannātha, the Lord, come into the path of my eyes.

Close to the Sanskrit

Take away, you, saṃsāra — swiftly, the sapless thing — O Lord of the gods. Take away, you, the boundless spread of sins, O Lord of the Yādavas. Ah, O Lord of the wretched and the forlorn, O unmoving one — [what is] bestowed, to protect ceaselessly. May Jagannātha, the Lord, come into the path of my eyes.
