In plain words
I am not asking for a kingdom. Not for gold, not for all the splendour that pleasure runs on. I am not begging for a lovely bride, the one every person in the world wants, the finest of wives. Śiva, lord of the Pramathas, sings his deeds — always, time after time. Let Jagannātha, the Lord, come into the path of my eyes.
Close to the Sanskrit
A kingdom is truly not to be prayed for, nor goldenness in the opulence of enjoyment; I do not beg for a lovely bride, desirable to all people, the choicest of wives. May Jagannātha, the Lord, whose deeds are sung always, time after time, by the Lord of the Pramathas, come into the path of my eyes.
