A string of pearls hides the thread — but in the gap between two pearls, there it is. In the same way, thought after thought covers Cit — consciousness itself — and in the space between two thoughts, it stands out plain.
Close to the Sanskrit
The thread, covered by pearls, is seen in the middle of two pearls; so too Cit, consciousness itself, covered by the mind's modifications and conceptions, is clear in the interval between two conceptions.
