In plain words
Commentary on the Lalitātrishatī. Based on scriptural texts and grammatical roots, the phrase 'vital channel' points directly by implication to the Supreme Self. Though the Lord transcends physical embodiment born of past karma, through the maxim of hardened butter—taking tangible form by virtue of the devotee's meditation on the inner controller—this name is understood. The essence is that the vital channel of Kāmīśvara is none other than the supporting consciousness itself. Homage to that vital channel. She who sits in the lap of Kāmīśa: resting on his left side. As the Lalitātapānīya declares: 'She who dwells in the lap of Kāmīśa, who assumes manifold forms of desire.' Homage to her. She whose body is embraced by Kāmīśvara: whose form is held and claimed by him. Homage to her. Bestower of joy upon Kāmīśvara: she who brings delight to the Lord, or who grants to her devotees that supreme, non-dual realization of existence-consciousness-bliss which constitutes the very bliss of Kāmīśvara. Homage to her. Beloved of Kāmīśvara, playful companion of Kāmīśvara, the fulfillment of Kāmīśvara's austerity, dear to the heart of Kāmīśvara.
Close to the Sanskrit
Commentary on Lalitātrishatī. Through the śruti 'śritau' and from the root-list 'jīva prāṇadhāraṇe', the word prāṇanāḍī is indicated by implication to be the Supreme Self alone. Although Kāmīśvara has no body born of prārabdha karma, by the maxim of the solidification of ghee, through having a tangible form and through the contemplation of Him as the inner controller, this name arises. The resultant meaning is that the vital channel of Kāmīśvara is the consciousness supporting it. Salutation to that Prāṇanāḍī of Kāmīśvara. She who dwells in the lap of Kāma: residing on the left hip in the lap of Kāmīśa. Thus in the Lalitātapānīya: 'She who dwells in the lap of Kāmīśa who has many forms of Kāma.' Salutation to her. She whose limbs are embraced by Kāmīśvara: her limb which is embraced and accepted by him. Salutation to her. Bestower of happiness to Kāmīśvara: giving happiness to Kāmīśvara, or because whatever happiness belongs to Kāmīśvara—consisting in the direct realization of existence-consciousness-bliss as Brahman, from the śruti maxim 'having become a god she attains the gods'—she grants to her devotees liberation in the form of non-difference from Kāmīśvara, which is dense existence-consciousness-bliss. Salutation to her. Beloved of Kāmīśvara, sportive companion of Kāmīśvara, accomplishment of the austerity of Kāmīśvara, dear to the mind of Kāmīśvara.
