The works of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya

Mohamudgaraḥ

Verse 2

In plain words

Fool — let go of the thirst for getting rich. Grow a clear mind instead, a mind with the wanting gone out of it. Whatever comes to you from your own honest work: let that be what gladdens your heart.

Close to the Sanskrit

O fool, abandon the thirst for the acquisition of wealth; make in the mind a true understanding, one free from craving. Whatever you obtain, acquired by your own action — with that wealth, gladden your mind.
