The works of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya

Mohamudgaraḥ

Verse 29

In plain words

Keep it in front of you, always: money is a disaster. Not one drop of happiness comes from it — that is the truth. A rich man is afraid even of his own son. Everywhere, this is the rule.

Close to the Sanskrit

Contemplate wealth constantly as calamity; truly, there is not a particle of happiness from it. Even from a son there is fear for those who possess wealth. Everywhere this is the ordained way.
