In plain words

Your lotus feet are lit up by the spray of a river that stumbles forward, wave breaking over wave. Your water reaches even those who hate you and carries off the whole brood of their sins and the fate those sins bred. You are the one who hands over the armour that takes away the fear of Death's messengers, of Time, of the spirits of the night. At those lotus feet I bow, Goddess Narmadā.

Close to the Sanskrit

Coloured by the breaking of the beautifully tumbling waves of the droplet-bearing river; joined with the water that carries off, in the hostile ones, the brood of sins, the fate born of them, and the rest; O giver of the armour that takes away the fear of Death's messengers, of Time, and of spirits — your lotus foot I salute, O Goddess Narmadā.
