The works of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya

Nirguṇamānasapūjā

Verse 3

In plain words

The stainless One — what is there to wash? A garment, for the One whose belly holds the universe? He has no lineage, no caste: so where would the sacred thread go?

Close to the Sanskrit

For the stainless One, whence bathing? And a garment, for the One whose belly is the universe? But for the One without lineage, without caste — whence for Him the sacred thread?
