Inside a house, fate lifts one person up and takes another away. Does the lamp rejoice? Does it grieve? It just keeps shining. So too the ātman.

Within the house, by the force of fate, when someone has risen up or has fallen away — does the lamp rejoice, or does it grieve? Just so the Self too.
