Verse 39

प्राणादपि को रम्यः कुलधर्मः साधुसङ्गश्च ।का संरक्ष्या कीर्तिः पतिव्रता नैजबुद्धिश्च ॥ ३८ ॥

In plain words

What is more precious than life itself? The duty of one's lineage and the company of the wise. What must be guarded above all? A spotless reputation, devotion, and one's own discernment.
