In plain words
Because these roots operate in the senses of knowledge and gain, the scriptures are called Vedas. If you ask what the nature of that single Veda is, scripture declares: 'Brahman is truth, knowledge, infinity.' Therefore, because that true Brahman—which is the single Veda—was not understood, many Vedic branches were expounded; all of them serve to reveal that very meaning. O king, have you too understood this and anchored yourself in the true Brahman? Someone else, indeed, is firmly established in the Truth.

In knowledge, vid in gain, because of these roots operating in the subject, therefore they are called Vedas. If it is asked what is the nature of that single Veda, 'Brahman is truth, knowledge, infinity' from scripture. Therefore, due to non-comprehension of Brahman which is true and of the form of the single Veda, many Vedas were expounded; all Vedas are causes of seeing that meaning. O king of kings, having known thus, are you too established exclusively in true Brahman? A certain person again is situated, established in truth.
