विद्वान् तेज अभ्येति नित्यं नित्यमविनाश्यात्मभूतमेव अभ्येति तेजः ज्योतिः, न कर्मणा ।कस्मात्पुनर्ज्ञानेनैवाभ्येति? तत्राह—न विद्यते ह्यन्यथा तस्य पन्थाः तस्य पूर्णानन्दज्योतिषो ज्ञानमेकं मुक्त्वा अन्यः पन्था मार्गो नास्त्येव ।श्रूयते च—‘तमेवं विदित्वातिमृत्युमेति नान्यः पन्था विद्यतेऽयनाय’ इति ॥
In plain words
The wise person ever attains the supreme light—indeed, he attains it as his own indestructible, essential self, not through ritual action. Why does he reach it through knowledge alone? To this the answer is: no other path exists. Aside from direct knowledge of that light of boundless bliss, there is simply no other road. As scripture declares: 'Knowing him thus, one transcends death; there is no other path for the journey.'
Close to the Sanskrit
The knower constantly attains light, always attains light itself as his imperishable self, not by action. Why does one attain solely through knowledge? To that he says: for no other path of him exists. Leaving aside knowledge alone of that light of full bliss, another path or road does not exist at all. And it is heard: 'Knowing him thus one transcends death; no other path exists for the journey,' thus.
