In plain words

Scripture declares: 'When death occurs, where is his immortality?' Both the real and the unreal operate by depending on a single, non-dual substratum of absolute truth, just like a snake perceived in a piece of rope... That ultimate reality is beheld by yogis alone.

Close to the Sanskrit

Sruti says: 'Death, whence his immortality?' Truth and falsehood both exist bound to the truth, clinging to the one supreme reality as a substratum, like a snake in a rope... That which yogis alone perceive.
