In plain words
Hold back the senses from their running outward. Look steadily at what you crave and see the flaw in it, and everything that follows the flaw. Add to that the grace of the Lord and the grace of your teacher — and the mind arrives at peace, and not after long.
Close to the Sanskrit
By the restraint of the movement of all the senses, by reflection on the defects and the rest in objects of enjoyment, and by the grace of the Lord and by the grace of the guru, the mind comes to peace before long.
