। ॥ ४४९ ॥
In plain words
The senses that know — each one set moving by its own presiding deity — and the organs that act, and the mind and all that follows it: every one of them is fixed to its own task and no other. They work at it hard, the way servants work in a house. And the one they are all serving is He, the Ātman.
Close to the Sanskrit
The organs of knowledge, impelled by their own presiding deities, and the organs of action too, and likewise the mind and the rest, are appointed each to the discharge of its own function; with effort, like a household of servants, they attend upon Him.
