Verse 71

In plain words

Fear of the king. Fear of thieves. Fear of your own carelessness. Fear of your own relatives. Strip away the story and that is what wealth actually is: held in the jaws of fear, the root that misfortune grows from. Which is why, for anyone with discernment, it never once delivers the happiness it promised.

Close to the Sanskrit

Fear from the king, fear of thieves, fear from one's own negligence, and likewise fear from kinsmen — in truth wealth is seized by fear and is the root of calamity; since it is so, it never serves the good for happiness.
